Catherine Gregory, flutist and Co-Artistic Director of Decoda, the affiliate ensemble of Carnegie Hall, will lead a discussion on what it means to be a musician in the 21st century and the social justice initiatives that the ensemble spearheads through their work and performances nationally and internationally. One initiative, Music for Transformation, brings creative songwriting projects to help empower vulnerable and disenfranchised voices. Decoda’s exemplary work in maximum-security prisons and in the juvenile justice system has been recognized in the media and has on three separate occasions been invited to the White House to perform and advocate for arts programming as a means for criminal justice reform.

This event is free and open to the public of all ages.

12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
