Plenty to do on Fourth of July in the Pikes Peak region

Fourth of July events fill the region this weekend.

Dare to get close to Memorial Park and you'll find droves of folks walking in with picnic coolers. The Colorado Springs Philharmonic will perform there Monday as the area's largest fireworks display explodes overhead. If you don't make it to the park to hear the symphony, you always can head to Woodland Park on Tuesday for the "Symphony Above the Clouds" at Woodland Park Middle School.

Two festivals offer even more culture for your holiday festivities. Pikes Peak Art & Music Festival in America the Beautiful Park features dozens of artists and their wares, while Green Box Arts Festival in Green Mountain Falls winds up the day with a block party and music by Caleb Chapman's Crescent Super Band.

Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site continues its Fourth of July tradition with lots of themed events, including a reading of the Gettysburg Address and Declaration of Independence, Seven Falls Indian Dancers, an American Revolutionary War encampment, carnival games, music and more.

For a hotter, faster holiday, head to the El Paso County Raceway Independence Blowout in Calhan. More than 100 stock cars will race down the track, followed by fireworks at dusk.
