Grasp – A Multi-Pronged Approach to Stone Setting

Thursday, July 9 & Friday, July 10, 9AM-4PM both days
Studio 2 – Green Box Workshop

In this two-day workshop we will explore a handful of organic options for creating and sizing unusual ring bands. After we have a couple of bands under our belt, we will learn how to grasp a faceted gemstone in a unique, hand fabricated prong setting to make a dramatic, sculptural ring. You will have options to go simple or sublime. You will leave the workshop with a dynamic finished ring to flaunt, as well as an additional completed ring band or two to continue your practice at home. Class fee includes ALL materials including sterling silver, use of equipment, and all tools
and materials needed to complete the project. Gemstones to set will be available for purchase, or bring your own 10mm or larger stone.

Ace, of Studio Luna Verde, settled in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, after many years exploring and hiking and driving all over the western U.S. Experiences have included driving 1950s era tour buses for Green Tortoise Adventure Travel / performing with a three ring circus / hiking into (and out of) the Grand Canyon so many times she’s lost count / traveling and living out of a ’72 Toyota Landcruiser for three (and a half) years / and failing miserably at surfing on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. She loves spicy chocolate, and lightening storms. Her largest creation thus far is having built her own studio, where she currently makes her eclectic jewelry and unabashedly embraces the art of imperfection.
