Artist James Turrell’s Green Mountain Falls Skyspace, a monolithic concrete installation described as a “one-of-a-kind kinetic light and color encounter” has been built into a Colorado mountainside overlooking Gazebo Lake at the new Red Butte Recreation Area in the town of Green Mountain Falls.

Clad in gray stone, the windowless boxlike structure clings to a steep forested slope overlooking the small town. Good shoes are a necessity for the half-mile hike to get to it.
