Opera On Screen – Santa Fe Opera’s La Bohème

For the first time anywhere outside of New Mexico, Green Box is bringing Santa Fe Opera (via film) to the Festival this summer! Recorded live at the Santa Fe Opera during the 2025 season, Opera on Screen offers audiences a fresh way to engage with La Boheme, the timeless tale of love and friendship set to some of opera’s best-loved music. Composed by Giacomo Puccini, La Bohème is set in the vibrant playground of 1920s Paris, where six Bohemians come together in pursuit of connection, meaning and artistic greatness.

In advance of our first screening of Santa Fe Opera’s La Bohème, we invite you to gather your picnic baskets and join friends on the lawn. Bring your own blanket, camp chairs, and/or foldable tables (or arrive early to stake out a spot at one of our picnic tables). Parking spots adjacent to Pool Park will also be available if you are a tailgate purist, and want to enjoy the festivities out of the trunk of your vehicle. Consider bringing a fun culinary experience and celebratory beverages. Feel free to dress for the occasion, especially if you plan on attending the opera screening at 7PM – from bolos to ballgowns, all forms of creative expression are welcome!
Don’t want to bring your own food and drink? No problem, specially designed picnic boxes will be available for sale at Cantina Verde!
