The Unexpected – A Literary Journey

Surrounded by sound and atmosphere from every direction, and comfortably settled in the open sky, listeners embark on a musical and narrative journey. This 30-minute audio experience, by pianist, composer, improviser, and scenographer, Jean François Alcoléa, consists of excerpts from six beloved American novels and plays (recorded by over a dozen actors from the Pikes Peak Region), and invites audiences into the heart of vivid, captivating stories. Original musical and sonic compositions shape a rich tapestry of moods and characters, offering a rare pause outside of time. The Unexpected opens a new way of discovering books and their worlds—part literature, part music, part cinema for the ears.
