Weaving Workshop with Steven Frost

Thursday November 6 and Friday November 7 | 6-8PM |Green Box Workshop, Studio 6

You are invited to join artist and educator Steven Frost for an all-levels weaving workshop using upcycled materials and clothing to create quilt-inspired weavings. These woven panels will become part of the proscenium Frost designed for Helanius J. Wilkins’ touring dance work The Conversation Series: Stitching the Geopolitical Quilt to Re-Body Belonging.

The workshop requires no prior experience, materials, or fees. Using rigid heddle looms, participants will explore how textile-making can hold memory, labor, and community, transforming everyday materials into collaborative art.
Steven Frost (they/them) is an interdisciplinary fiber artist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder. They are the Co-Founder of the Experimental Weaving Residency and Associate Director of the Unstable Design Lab in CU’s Atlas Institute. Their research and creative work center on textiles, queer studies, and community-based art practices that invite collective making and storytelling.
